Johnstone as Director – Controls Application.

Johnstone brings nearly three decades of experience in a wide variety of roles in the industrial automation and control systems industry to his new role at AMT.  Johnstone’s most recent position was senior electrical engineer at a large packaging products and systems company where he oversaw capital projects and supported plant operations.  For 25 years prior to that, Johnstone owned and operated JS Controls, Inc., which specialized in automation and systems integration for the Southeast Michigan region.

Johnstone holds a variety of certifications and training, including Schneider Unity Pro PLC Programming certification and Horner Automation’s OCS Training for PLCs / HMIs, as well as being a member of the Sandler Sales Institute’s President’s Club.  To his new role at AMT, Johnstone experience with all major industry brands, including Rockwell Automation, Allen Bradley, Siemens, SquareD, Modicon, Telemecanique, General Electric, Horner, and Unitronics.

Kahler brings more than ten years of experience in industrial automation and control systems to his position at AMT.  His most recent position was senior field service engineer at Rockwell Automation where he supported a large array of products, managed automation projects, developed standards, and commissioned systems, as well as specializing in CIP motion, networks, HMIs, and process control.  Kahler also has industry experience in PID loops and process control in the chemical industry.   A graduate of Macomb Community College, Kahler holds his Associate’s degree in science as well as having completed several technical courses in controls engineering.

Residing in the Sandusky, Ohio area, Toldy will focus on key accounts in the Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Western Pennsylvania/Western New York regions.  A graduate of Baldwin Wallace University, Toldy holds his Master of Business Administration, as well as having studied architecture engineering at Kent State University and mechanical engineering at Lorain County Community College.  Toldy also holds the Robotics Application Engineering Certification from FANUC America.

Stephen D. McLaren brings more than 30 years of sales experience in the robotic and automation industries to his position as Business Development Manager at AMT, having previously held positions at both robotics manufacturers and system integrators.   McLaren will focus on key accounts in the Metro Detroit area.  McLaren studied at the University of Texas and the University of Michigan – Flint.

Vice President of Automated Systems Group (ASG) Rick Vanden Boom has been promoted to Vice President of Sales at AMT, where he will focus on setting sales strategy, managing the sales team, and managing key customer relationships.  Joining the company as business development manager in 2013, Vanden Boom has risen through the organization to director and vice president of ASG until his recent promotion to vice president of sales.  A graduate of the National Institute of Technology, Vanden Boom holds a degree in electronics engineering.

Mark McGinnis joined AMT this month as Director of Systems Engineering, and has direct responsibility for the ASG group, which is dedicated to the design and build of turnkey automated robotic systems.  Prior to joining AMT, McGinnis served for 16 years in a variety of leadership roles at a large automation systems integrator and has worked more than 25 years in the automation industry.  A graduate of Ferris State University, McGinnis holds a Bachelor of Science in electronic engineering.
