AMT Kelly Chalmers presents at Extrusion 2026

The session will offer practical guidance for overcoming common automation challenges in film-processing applications.

Applied Manufacturing Technologies (AMT) Senior Program Manager Kelly Chalmers will speak at Extrusion 2026 about practical opportunities for automation in film-processing operations. Drawing from her recent Plastics Technology cover article, Chalmers will focus on roll handling, an area that often remains manual despite advances elsewhere in the production process. Automating the movement, staging and preparation of rolls can help improve throughput, consistency and operator safety.

Chalmers will also address the factors that make roll-handling automation complex, including differences in roll size, weight and configuration, as well as the need to integrate labeling, inspection and palletizing. Her presentation will highlight how flexible system design and technologies such as autonomous mobile robots can help film processors create safer, more efficient workflows.
